Mike Walsh's WSS and more - Additional SPS 2010 sales to come via Project Server 2010

There's a lot I don't know.

For instance I always thought (based on how I'd once installed Project Server 2003 and then got it to synchronize with a copy of WSS 2.0 plus the fact that supposedly you no longer needed to do this synchronization with Project Server 2007) that Project Server 2007 included WSS 3.0 *technology* and so all you did was install Project Server 2007 and that was that.

Apparently not.

I've just seen a post on Project Server 2010 and the MS guy says that one difference is that whereas you installed Project Server 2007 on top of WSS 3.0, now you install Project Server 2010 on top of SPS 2010.

What's more you need to bear that in mind when licensing (which he said and then left there hanging in the air) which presumably means you need both SPS 2010 and Project Server 2010 CALs and maybe even two lots of Internet Connection licenses.

Sounds pricey, doesn't it, and all caused by a stroke of the pen "you must install on top of SPS 2010, SPF 2010 won't do".

So will Project Server 2010 become another add-on to MOSS?

All the signs seem to be saying that it won't be. Instead it seems to be an expensive product that will only work if you have also paid for SPS 2010.
